About Me

Hello and welcome to my Robin Hood blog! This is where I neatly organize and keep my long-form musings about the legend of Robin Hood. You can also find me on Twitter, Instagram, and a few other places, all linked at https://linktr.ee/emily.joy

I've been interested in Robin Hood since I was a child, but it's so much more fun now that I'm an adult and can explore the long history and accompanying bibliography.

I'm not an academic, and there are others more informed about the Robin Hood legend than I am. I did think for a bright shining moment that I wanted to get a master's degree in history studying how Maid Marian's character presentation reflects women's history through the ages, but then I realized that while I admire Robin Hood academic spaces, it's more fun for me to interact and create as a civilian. I'm turning that topic into a zine instead of a thesis, and I'm very excited about it.

My favorite way to engage with Robin Hood is through reading various novels throughout the centuries, particularly 20th century and onwards. I have an ongoing book collection of Robin Hood novels which has no clear end in sight. I love collecting antique and vintage Robin Hood books, and I would like to have a well-rounded and complete library of contemporary works as well. I also keep up with the filmography on a regular basis, and enjoy watching Hollywood retrace its own steps repeatedly. (Authors are so much more original then Hollywood scriptwriters.)

I've been working on my Robin Hood novel for a few years as well, and I'm looking forward to sharing it on one platform or another when it's ready.

I'm always looking for more Robin Hood friends, so if you've stumbled across my blog, feel free to reach out.

Other hobbies and interests include general reading, Taylor Swift, knitting, women's history, pen pals, and the great outdoors.
